5 days of christmas contest
The elves (Rudy and Rowdy) at our @Urban offices have been busy this week. They're getting ready for our first ever 5 Days of Christmas prize-filled Facebook contest, which will begin on Monday, December 12.

What's better than rainbows on roses and whiskers on kittens?  The Fort Smith Little Theatre's production of "The Sound of Music" of course.  Tickets are going fast, so get yours before you're left out in the cold.

our home in the sky

The first time Vicki Baker jumped out of a plane, she was sixty years old. “I loved it. I just wanted to do something to celebrate my sixtieth birthday. It’s the most fun thing I’ve ever done,” says Vicki. “I’m just beginning my second childhood.”

Vicki’s sixty-two now, and many weekends can still be found at Skydive Skyranch in Siloam Springs, not too far from her home in Prairie Grove. As she reaches for her camera, Vicki says that sometimes she just comes to watch. “[Just hearing the sound of the planes] turns me on,” says Vicki.

never enough hairspray!
It’s a lot of work being an actor, just ask the cast of “Hairspray.” The group of fifty-four that was selected by the Young Actors Guild in Fort Smith has been working on the songs, the choreography and the lines for weeks now. But as tired as they get, they never forget just how lucky they are to be on stage.

never too old to rock and roll

Flying far below the radar is a group of musicians that lights up downtown Fayetteville nearly every weekend.  They play because they love it, because it makes them happy, because they don't know how to stop.

Temper their enthusiasm with day jobs that keep them in check (and in charge) and you have some of the longest running music careers on the local scene.

artosphere: blending art and nature
The Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville has a series of events planned for its second ever Artosphere series.  If you like music, theater, art, biking, or gardening, there's something for you.
